The International Day of Education, observed annually on 24 January, serves as a global platform to reaffirm education as a fundamental human right, a public good, and a key driver of sustainable development. In 2026, UNESCO marks the Day under the theme “The power of youth in co-creating education,” recognizing young people not only as beneficiaries of education systems, but as active partners in shaping their design, governance, and outcomes.

On the occasion of the International Day of Education 2026, the UNESCO ROSA Education Sector is delighted to invite you to an online meeting under the theme “Empowering Africa’s Youth as Co-Creators of  Higher Education for Sustainable Development”, scheduled for Tuesday, 27 January 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Harare time (GMT+2) and will be conducted via Zoom.
